South Florida AFL-CIO, 7910 NW 25 St. #209A, Miami, FL 33122

Organizations and individuals in the community are invited to participate in a broad-based campaign to build support for national health care reform. The invitation is extended by Health Care for All- Florida (HCFAFL) and the South Florida AFL-CIO as initial convenors.

Healthcare for All - Florida is a non-partisan group building a movement in Florida to achieve the goal of high-quality healthcare for everyone in the United States. The group has initiated a dialogue on national health care reform emphasizing the harmful role of profit-making corporations in the delivery of health care, and the potential advantages of covering everyone under an enhanced program comparable to traditional Medicare. Currently, it is engaged in an in-person and on-line survey in order to identify individuals who have had adverse experiences with the current health care system and present their testimony at public hearings including elected officials.

The South Florida AFL-CIO brings together the labor movement in Miami-Dade, Collier and Monroe Counties. The AFL-CIO has initiated a national campaign to build support for health care reform that would include cost controls, preserve choice and offer the choice of both public and private plans. The strategy of the current campaign is education, outreach and mobilization, to help provide working people with the knowledge they need to make informed choices about health care reform and have their voices heard in the national health care debate. The campaign will work to obtain proclamations from local government in support of the AFL-CIO’s platform and educate union membership about it.

The coalition will meet for the first time at noon on Tuesday, April 8 at the offices of the South Florida AFL-CIO, 7910 NW 25 St. #209A, Miami, FL 33122. The community is welcome- lunch will be provided. For further information and to RSVP, call Deborah Dion at 305-593-8886 or email to:
