Mission & Principles

Urban Environmental League
Smart Growth Strategy

Purpose Statement

Instead of consistently reacting in an emergency room atmosphere against assaults to public park land, the UEL proposes implementing a yearlong strategy to build toward changes in growth management laws that arm local governments and their constituencies with the tools necessary to approach conservation first rather than as an afterthought, while also strengthening the community's livability, environmental and recreational wellness and its economic vitality. In so doing, the greatest achievement will become a more committed and better informed public that will participate at all levels of the community planning process.
